SERIES 4 AMPS WELL RECEIVED.
The new Acoustic Image Series 4 heads and combos have been in the hands of players for a couple of months and the feedback has
been excellent. More specifically, musicians are hearing what we hear—that these are the most transparent and musical
amplifiers we have ever produced.
If you haven’t heard the difference our innovative (and strikingly quiet) Series 4 pre/power amplifier system makes, an
AI dealer will be happy to demonstrate it for you.
AI VIDEOS NOW ON YOUTUBE CHANNEL.
The production values are far from Hollywood, but those who have seen our two new videos on YouTube are telling us that they
are helpful, informative and non-promotional, which was just what we were aiming for.
The first video describes our new Series 4 product line. The second is an online manual that describes the operation of our
products and how to get the most out of them.
Each is in five parts.
We suggest that you watch the Series 4 video in order, but pay particular attention to the sonic comparisons in the last part.
Here is the content breakdown:
- Introduction: a brief overview.
- What’s changed: changes from Series III to Series 4.
- Description of the S4 amp heads.
- Description of the S4 combo amps.
-
Comparison of the combo amps: side by side listening to the three combo amps to give you an idea of sonic
differences.
The online manual video is complementary to our printed product manuals so in order to get the most out of them we suggest you
refer to your manual (downloadable on our website) as you watch. Segment by segment, they deal with:
- Introduction, AC power and preamp functions.
- Speaker outputs and limiter.
- Speaker cabinets (Coda, Corus) and docking system.
- Ten2 and slip cover/shoulder strap.
- Product care and applications.

CHARLES HUMPHREY III RELIES ON AI TO HELP BUILD
A ROCKSOLID BOTTOM FOR STEEP CANYON RANGERS.
At Acoustic Image, our amplifiers are popular with top professionals playing a wide range of music, from jazz to country on a
multiplicity of instruments. Our focus this issue is on bluegrass bass and specifically Charles Humphrey III the skilled
bassist, singer and songwriter for award-winning Steep Canyon Rangers who record and tour on their own as well as with Steve
Martin. Here is what Charles has to say about AI:
“I’ve used Acoustic Image amplifiers for many years both onstage and in the studio for my upright bass. In my
opinion, AI’s tone, portability, and customer service are the best.”
“I fly all over the world and can verify that Acoustic Image products stand up to the trials and tribulations of life on
the road. For years, I travelled with the Contra and simply love it! It provides great stage volume for the band and sends a
clear, true signal of my instrument’s tone to the house PA. Recently, I switched to the Ten2, which allows me to blend
2 pick-ups or a pick-up and a microphone on my bass—and delivers more volume and wattage when I need it. “
“Since arriving on the bluegrass scene, Acoustic Image amplifiers have become the desired standard for the most
discerning professional upright bass players.”
Charles R. Humphrey III has been playing upright bass since middle school and studied classically at UNC-Chapel Hill, where Steep Canyon Rangers
was formed. Twice selected by the International Bluegrass Music Association as a showcase songwriter, Charles has also
released two side projects—the solo "Songs From The Road" and Songs From The Road Band’s "As The Crow Flies"—both of which feature all-original tunes. You can find out more about Charles and
his work at steepcanyon.com.
AI At Work will be a regular feature. Next issue: singer/songwriters.
